Help Shattered screen. NEED HELP..

Lurker
I'm sure that there are a million posts about this, but the search feature is running far too slow.

Anyways. Kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Yesterday, my son dropped my phone and the screen shattered. I can't receive or make outgoing calls. I can't check anything on my menu as it won't slide down to let me.

I've taken out my battery a million times hoping that once I do that and power up my phone I can at least use it. No dice.

I can't take it in anywhere because we're in the middle of a snow storm and kind of snowed in. I do have insurance, but can't find what it covers.

SOOO... Is it possible for my phone to be able to work at all to make calls after the screen has been shattered or am I SOL? It would have been nice to call into work today to let them know I'm snowed in. But I have to rely on email, which they don't check often. And it is frowned upon.

I'd like to call verizon. But can't. I noticed that when I take the battery cover off my incredible I saw a little "void" button in the lower left corner and was curious about pushing that to see if that would reset or recalibrate my phone. But haven't because I'm not one to just push mysterious buttons, although it is tempting.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you! Again, I'm sorry if there has been a lot of posts on this, but like I said the search feature is running SLOW. Sorry if someone has to re-answer this question. But I appreciate it, considering I'm snowed in and can't get to someone to get a new phone.

If you device isn't registering screen touchs, you're basically SOL. If you have insurance you'll be fine. You might be able to fix the phone by replacing the screen and digitizer, but you're better off just getting an insurance replacement.

And the void "button" you found isn't a button. It's a sticker to indicate whether you dismantled your phone (it might also be a water indicator, but I'm not sure).

Do you have an older verizon phone lying around that you could reactivate?

Ooo... No, this is my first verizon. Well. Crap, that's what I was fearing. HA! Thanks for the response. I figured as much so.
