shift key

Are you on the swype keyboard?

All the way to the left, looks like an up arrow. You can also long press a button to get the character above it.

I thought it was that button... press it (long) or Press and hold and all it does is change keyboard (upper case/lower case)....

Then did a quick Google search, found out you need to gently tab it...then the dash is to the left of space bar key at bottom...

but, this only work for dash, it is not really a shift key and I cannot get to type !@#$%^&*() (for example)....

got to be a easier way!!!

for a "-" or any of the other special characters, press the "?123" below the shift key. Also note on that page of keys the shift is now "1/3", pressing it will cycle you through three pages (2/3 & 3/3) with other special characters.

I think Kelmar was referring to long pressing the key with the "-" above it (swipe). On the samsung keyboard if you long press the alpha key you get a range of selections that pop up.

Edit: Sorry just realized that the samsung keyboard only has numerals pop up for long presses. Watson is correct regarding samsung keyboard options.
