Root Sholes 2.0.5 is out!

Has anyone else experienced an issue with booting past the moto logo after flashing 2.0.5? I have tried both without wiping data and with a full wipe and no luck. It just hangs at the moto logo and keeps restarting itself. I am able to go back to 2.0.3 just fine. Any advice??

I have always (including pre-Sholes) had a problem with BT connecting with the hands-free on my car. It paired instantly when I first got the phone, but doesn't always connect when I start the car. Sometimes toggling BT off and on helps, but not always. This is really my only complaint with the Droid, and I live with it.:(
 
2.0.5 is so snappy,smooth, and responsive! 3G,wifi,audio,etc all working great! Oc'd to 800 right now but soon will be pushing to 1000, temp hasn't gone past 32 with lengthy gameplaying,calls,surfing,app usage. Sholes is great.
 
New guy here. Just rooted today and am now running 2.0.5 @1000. Super fast and smooth, only hit 37c so far. Couldn't be happier!
 
I have tried using the SMUPdater, the lastest from sholes.info to put the custom rom on my droid. The droid roots fine, but during the next step after reseting and after the confirmation click throughs for reflashing the recovery, i get the following error:

"An error has occured"
mtd: not writing bad block at 0x001e0000

If I reset to recovery mode after the root I do see the golden android figure.

I have installed no custom roms prior to this so it's a clean droid. Also if I attempt to do it again without rebooting it just gets stuck in a loop asking if i'm sure I want to flash. I'm able to back out of either with no problems and the droid continues to work in what appears to be normal. Any suggestions?

I have unrooted and had a clean/reset droid, re-downloaded the updater, and had the same result.

Thanks fellas for any help you can provide.

I believe their roms are coded to be launched/installed with SMupdater.. I could be wrong.

Try modifying the link in the thread about 2.0.6 to see if you can get 2.0.5 manually.

Stab in the dark here, but it is possible that your internal (not SD card) memory is defective. I wonder if you could have Verizon test it somehow? It may be hard to explain why you think it is defective though...
 
I had to put SetCPU back to 800, it just isn't stable at anything over that, any ideas? At 1000, 1100 and 1200 it might work for a bit, but it seems anytime the processor gets a load it will crash, while other times it would run for a bit then go down. By crash I mean the screen and device freezes and the screen goes black, then I get the Droid word drawing thing and sometimes the Droid Eye Animation will come up, then it will repeat until I pull the battery. It basically goes insane

It's okay I guess, at 800 it kicks tail too, but man, at 1.1 and 1.2 it really flies. Thanks guys!
 
Okay, I have been running sholes 2.0.5 since it released and did not have any problems till today. Seems like every application that I have had opened FCd forcing me to reboot about three or four times. I am only overclocked to 800 MHz and have not noticed any overheating at all. For me there is not a huge responsiveness between 2.0.5 and 2.0.4 except with the soft keyboards (thanks to Steve's kernel.) Not sure what the problem could be. But I went ahead and backed up to 2.0.4 and seems like everything is running fine. Anyone else having any problems?
 
so far it's been working fine.. although today I'm having an issue with the backlight on the screen staying on.. It's set to 15 seconds before blackout but the screen just goes to low dim and never shuts off. anyone else having this issue?
 
Anyone have a problem with the on screen keyboard when charging, when I type it does multiples of one letter and sometimes the letters around the one I’m typing?
 
Hmm.. still not seeing anyone with sound related issues. This is a bit disappointing as I still have it and no idea what is causing it. I have reloaded the rom a few times with different options but I still lose sound forcing a reboot. What happens, is if I use something that plays a lot of sound files in a certain amount of time, the sound cuts out. It really happens a lot when I use my Tub Thumper app since I can push out a lot of sound with it. I know it's not the app though as it happens in everything that deals with playing sounds.

While it's not really a big deal now that I know how to avoid it.. I was still hoping someone else had experienced it while using this rom..
 
i noticed my youtube videos will no longer upload since i have installed 2.0.5 i have had zero problems but now i cant upload
 
Just my experience- I went from Bugless Beast .7.5 to sholes 2.0.5 and got a lot of FCs. I particularly had trouble with the camera. Also, on boot up the phone took a LONG time to find the SD card. I was OCing fine at between 800-1000 and very few FCs on BB, but a lot of delays and FCs on sholes. I now went to Bugless Beast .7.6 and the boot is back to very quick and camera works great.

I love the idea of sholes SMUpdater, but my experience so far is the Bugless is more stable.
