Shooting at Batman premiere

My heart goes out to all who are affected by this senseless tragedy. It is such a horrible thing that has happened, and it is very sad. Now families are second guessing their trips to the theaters because there is always the unknown in the world.

There are no words to describe what the ones that are affected by this are feeling right now. My thoughts are with them.

I just wonder why this keeps happening. My heart and thoughts are with all the victims and their families. I live in Tucson, where Jared Loughner went on his deadly shooting rampage, where he wounded Rep. Gabby Giffords. It really is different when it happens in your own community. I guess we get desensitized from watching the horrible stuff on the news all the time. I think if we felt the full emotional impact of all the bad news that goes on around the world every day, a lot of us would not be able to function, so our brain desensitizes us from it, to protect us.

This is quite true. Living in DC, I've started to become desensitized to this type of violence. A murder here, a robbery there, it just seems to be an everyday occurrence to me as I often just shrug it off.
We've had our car broken into twice and our storage unit robbed a couple times. It's one of those things that sucks, but unfortunately, it's real life.
In no way am I trying to compare these petty things with the horrible tragedy. It still blows my mind what some people can and are willing to do to harm others. :(
