ShootMe removed from the market?

jerofld

Fixing stuff is not easy
I noticed recently that shootme was made 'incompatible' with every device I have, including ones that it worked well with before. It's listing in search is also missing. Anyone know why? I still have a backup of it with Titanium Backup, but was curious.

Edit: Now even the direct link I had was removed.

It's a root only screen shot app - and a very good one at that.

If and evidently only if you already have it listed under My Apps in the Market you can still see it.

What's happened here is a great dev provided a great tool for free (I've used it for over a year) and has been given so much abuse that's they're pretty hurt.

That's a shame. Shootme is, imo, the best screen shot app.

It's completely gone from my apps list on the Market (viewed from my PC in Firefox). However, it does show up on my apps list on AppBrain but when you click on it it takes you to a page stating the app is no longer available.

Guess I'm going to have to back this one up and keep it safe somewhere just in case. I love this app, and will continue to use it until it just doesn't work anymore.

For those who tweet, couldn't hurt to show the love - here's a copy of mine:

@belgianwaves Your work has been top notch and highly appreciated by many. Sounds like abuse has caused you to withdraw. Way sorry to hear!

In my case, I didn't want to be pushy or anything - just showing the support so he knows that maybe the good might outweigh the evil in his dev world.

I'll host it on my dropbox account for everyone to download in the future in case it doesn't come back on the market.

Yeah - if you post that here, we'll be required to whack you. :(

ShootMe is copyrighted and its distribution is controlled by the dev.

Sorry to be this way, but that's part of Da Rules here.

If you can get his permission, that's another story - but I think the point is, new users getting it sideways are likely to be losing the Market discussion he tried to have with users.

While trying to be helpful, one or two bad eggs getting that download and then whining to him because they don't know what they're doing is going set everything back.

Please reconsider. ;)

Didn't know that. I'll keep it to myself. :D

besides, the last thing we need to see more of are root only apps that are just floating around on the web.

Got mine still. Great app! Read what Ari free posted of what the developer said why he took it off...I wonder what was said on the emails that actually got him to reconsider the app. Why would anyone complain about this useful app? I would tell the developer for every "hater" out there...there is three people that appreciate the app.
