Help Should I buy it...

GuessWho

Lurker
Hey guys. :D
I am thinking of buying the HTC Sensation, but I am not sure if it's good. I mean, it has awesome specks and design, but there's a lot of bad things i found on these forums: screen issues, overheating, unresponsiveness, bugs... Is it really that bad? Should I buy it? Or should I go for the HTC Evo 3D or Desire HD?And, btw, can you list me some online retailers where I can buy it from, cause I'd like it to be unlocked and carrier unbranded?
Thanks. ;)

Personally, i'd wait a couple more months and see what the next-gen HTC's look like. Rumours are a Quad core successor to the Sensation so may be worth holding out at least until MWC has finished and the new handsets have been announced?

If you don't want to wait then get the Sensation, it is a great phone. Looking on a forum like this will always paint a bad picture; you're far more likely to come to a forum with a complaint than praise.

My only gripe with the Sensation is battery life which for a heavy user could be an issue but that's not limited to the Sensation. The technology we're putting into smartphones and their power requirements are evolving significantly faster than the tech that powers it!

You have an HTC Sensation. Do you have any problems with it, besides the battery life? Since when do you have it? ;)

You would be mad to go for the Sensation when the Sensation XE is available... same phone but;

-300MHz faster CPU onboard (the sensation was underclocked to 1.2mhz and the XE retains original clock speed of 1.5GHz)

-later software version (I assume this just due to the fact when compared to the Sensation my camera quality is better)

-Larger capacity battery

-Beats earphones supplied (though the Beats audio profile accompanying the earphones only works when using the official HTC music and video applications (though now PowerAMP supports the Beats audio profile)

Of course if you are into flashing custom ROMs/overclocking, those XE advantages can be overcome with the original sensation. Then you could go out and buy a battery from Mugen (or whoever) to achieve the same battery capacity.

Hope this helps, Personally I would do what has already been suggested; wait for Quad core phones coming out in the next couple of months, I believe the successor to the Sensation XE is going to called the HTC One X

Actually you'd be mad to pay more for the XE over the normal Sensation IMO.

All of the reasons you've stated above can very easily and quickly be changed and for considerably less than what it would cost to buy the XE. The only thing you wouldn't have are the beats headphones which although they look awesome, are massively over rated.

There is always another the phone in the future that's better than the one you have. T-mobile announces plan for LTE next year. Why don't wait for it than. Don't bother compare with another phone. When you go to a forum, all you see is problems. That doesn't mean a phone is bad. Just because only people with issue would post it. You can go to any forum, it will be the same.

The Sensation is a very good phone. I got rid of the Galaxy 4G and got this one. It's like night and day. The Galaxy 4G probably a good phone as well but I just got a bad one. I got it used. I do like HTC better in general because the User Interface is better. There is issue with the battery but that's pretty much with all smart phones. I just have to charge nightly. You can also buy a larger capacity battery depending on your usage.

Fair point with the 'their will always be another phone in the future' comment however MWC is the biggest show of the year and will bring with it the biggest announcements of the year too.

As a heads up, i would bet a lot of money on a Quad core 1.5GHz, 1 GB RAM, 720p screen and 8 megapixel camera being the headline specs of HTC's big annoucnement. Definitely worth waiting for!

So someone should wait for a quad-core version of the sensation when the dual-core version already drains the battery way too fast?

Sorry but I am not buying into the quad-core hype just yet at least not without a Droid Razr Maxx esque battery.

Good point but I would like to think bigger capacity batteries will accompany the newer phones.... fingers crossed.

Quad core processors have been reported to be both more powerful and more battery efficient so the fact that the HTC One X will launch with an 1800mah battery should mean considerably better battery life than the Sensation which isn't actually any worse than any other high end smartphone btw.

If you're expecting to go more than a day without charging your phone, it isn't going to happen. I can get 16-18 hours out of my sensation unless i really hammer it so it easily sees me between charges
