Should I cancel Asurion if I root my phone?

Sorry that I'm still new to this. This is the first time I've actually bought insurance on a phone of mine. Since I might keep my Incredible instead of switching to X, I figure I might as well get its full potential and root the phone. Its my understanding that rooting a phone actually voids the warranty/insurance that could be had with Asurion. Is this correct? If so, should I just cancel the insurance from them and save myself the 6 or so bucks per month (it'd easily buy me a good protective case)?

I would not cancel it. If anything happens, just take it back to stock...which will unroot your phone and your warranty is back on.

No! Definitely do not cancel your insurance.

Even if rooting did void your warranty somehow, there are ways around it.

The most obvious way is what tats_06 said.

omg NOOOOO!!!! you can always un-root or sometimes send in a rooted phone and they wont even care

Ok, thanks for the input guys. My only concern is if the phone pretty much screws up and I can't get the thing to unroot for whatever reason. Guess I'll keep the insurance for now.

no dont do that man....if for instance you break your phone and want a replacement, all you do is tell them you lost the phone and you wouldnt have to send it in obviously...and they wouldnt ever know it was rooted

by saying you lost the phone vs breaking the phone, there is no price difference, all they do is put the ESN on the lost/stolen list and it cant be activated

If that happens you say you lost it or it was stolen, as Asurion covers that

I'm a permanent customer of Asurion. Mostly because Im grandfathered in with a sick plan but thats besides the point

If you mess up your phone by rooting it only voids warranty not insurance according to there insurance policy you do not have to tell them why
you messed it up just that it's messed up This I know from experience.
