Should I consider upgrading from the DInc right now?

I just found out that I'm eligible for a discounted upgrade right now. I'm debating between just holding on to my DInc until February when I'm eligible for a NE2 upgrade and there may be more phones out there, and upgrading now to a DInc2 or a Thunderbolt. I will be honest here, I love my DInc. The only real gripe I have about it is the battery life. I think the battery life sucks. Both the DInc2 and the Thunderbolt look like they have options for wireless charging and I like the front facing camera as well. I'm not a fan at all of the 4" plus screen though. Is it worth upgrading now or would I be better off holding out until February?

I'm holding out... thunderbolt has terrible battery life too and inc2 isn't enough of an upgrade to warrant using your upgrade on.

Have a friend that has a Thunderbolt, IMO it sucks, another friend has the Droid Charge, much better than TB but not worth the upgrade yet ......that said my opinion and your opinion of course may differ which is ok!

Like other poster said, Inc2 not that much of an upgrade IMO except for battery life and you can get batteries cheap at ebay or amazon.

Does the Inc2 have better life than the DInc? I had heard the Thunderbolt had abysmal battery life.

From what I've read it's a little better, but I still don't think it's enough of a hardware upgrade to be locked into it for another 18 months when some better phones are on the horizon (obviously there is always better phones coming out though). To me the inc2 is more like the inc1.5. Plus I'd miss the trackpad, and the front facing camera and world capabilities of the inc2 don't interest me.

My opinion might not be the same as others though, because I have nothing to complain about with my current inc. The battery life is good for my use, and I haven't had any of the common issues that people have (low on space, touchscreen issues, deletion of texts etc).

The only complaint I've got about my DInc is the battery life. I get 6 hours if I'm using it heavily, maybe 8-10 if I'm not. That's really my only complaint.

If that was my only complaint, I'd either invest in a larger battery or more chargers, rather than use my upgrade on any current phones. I'm personally waiting to see how the moto bionic pans out (locked/encrypted bootloader). It has a supposed september release date. The new samsung galaxy might also turn out nice.

I'm not a fan of Samsung phones in general. They seem to never, ever get updated. I know a girl at work who just bought one of the Galaxy phones and absolutely loves it though.

I agree with most everyone here... I'm holding my DINC till I see a Galaxy S II and a Bionic, hold on to both of them and read reviews. I'm not jumping in to buy on release day any more. I love my DINC and it has served me well since a few days before launch!

Like the others, I'm waiting to see how the next round of phones turns out. This HTC Vigor sounds intriguing with a possible 1.5ghz dual core and HD screen. Perhaps a true Incredible successor?

No, nothing here now worth using your last NE2. MOST of us will be able to get our NE2 in December or at least by February. Be patient. Unless your Dinc is broken or dying for one reason or another. Be patient. So many nice things are on the horizon and will be here just in time for Christmas. Nexus Prime, HTC Vigor, Galaxy S II, and yes the i5 (eww) haha. Anyway, my Dinc is still functioning nicely and there are still good developers out there producing nice new ROMS to play with keeping it fresh for me.

Sorry but the words "I'm holding my DINC " make me laugh.

I too won't change. My brothers TB has awful call quality.

My battery life is short but I use twitter, have 7 email addys, plus I am logged into trillian all the time. So while I don't get a long time, I think it isn't the phone that is the problem.

TB fell short, still not the flagship phone...too many issues. Inc2 battery life rules but like sdrawkcab said, not enough of an upgrade to waste my last NE2 which is where many of us are at. I'm kinda getting impatient in some ways but I'm going big or going home. This phone's good enough to hang with most new releases so...

There is still nothing exciting available yet. My Incredible 1 still does the job and can hold its own to newer devices.

BUT the HTC Vigor has my interests piqued. It sounds like its going to be a beast. I'm waiting for that forum to open up.

Crazy thoughts: (Just pulling out of thin air)
Could the Vigor be ICS on launch? Is it a Nexus phone for Verizon? Considering the initial specs (720p screen, 1.5 ghz dual core, and ridiculous benchmarks) I think its possible. I mean, the Nexus 1 nearly did arrive on VZW but we got the Incredible 1 instead. Maybe Google and Verizon can come together and finally do stock Android? I hope so.

Honestly, if this is just a Sensation 2 or S then I will be pretty disappointed.

Isn't sensation a sick phone though?

It's not on VZW and it's way too big for me. I am not a fan of the 4" + screen at all. What I love most about the DInc is the size. 3" is more than adequate. Although it may just be that I've told myself that so many times over the years that I'm not open to other possibilities.

I'm waiting until Feb for a new phone. Just because it's a phone for one and two the phones coming out early next year will be better.

I have a droid Inc also and It works great. I think I need to do a factory reset as it runs choppy right now but it works.

This.

I was in a corp store over the W/E and looked at/played with the current crop of phones. I was not impressed. The Inc is still just as good if not better than all of them with the possible exception of the Inc2 which doesn't interest me at the moment because I don't see it as being a huge upgrade.

Having started out with a DroidX, I'm definitely not interested in a screen any larger than the 4" screen on the Inc2. I actually think the 3.7" screen on the Inc is perfectly sized for me.

Hopefully HTC will have something in the Inc/Inc2 size with LTE and decent battery life by the time I'm ready to upgrade; but for now the Inc is all the phone I need and then some so I don't have any desire to upgrade even though I'm eligible as well.

I'm impressed that with the current obsolescence rate of most phones, for a model that's 15+ months old the Inc still seems on par with current offerings!

I would hold out. I don't see any phone out there that I would want to upgrade to. I am waiting to see an HTC dual core phone. That is what I will probably upgrade to next. I really prefer HTC phones to all of the others. I have played with Samsung and Motorola and just don't like them. The Incredible is still a great phone, and if we ever get Gingerbread it will spice things up for a little while until newer dual core phones come out.

Yes, that phone does look sound interesting. Can't wait to see the specs and an estimated date it will come out.

+1 on the Vigor being a true contender. Look forward to the leak of verified specs and a tester vid so we can see the thing.

Same here. I love my Inc. So much that I recently upgraded to Droid 3, but then returned it cuz I missed my Inc so much.

Seriously, the Droid 3 just wasn't the right phone for me. Don't get me wrong, the Droid 3 is a good phone, but I really didn't like the screen. The colors were too washed out. I like the Inc's AMOLED is much better. I thought I would like the physical keyboard, but after a few days I got lazy about having to slide out a keyboard. The Droid 3 was too heavy for me, and the boxiness made it hard to me to use it with one hand (I have small hands).

I considered the Inc2, but I really wanted a duo core phone. The Inc2 is not worth spending an upgrade/contract renewal on. However, I would consider buying a used one at the right price.

Now I'm waiting for the SGS2 or Nexus Prime (if Verizon will actually get a Nexus phone).

The Inc is a really good size for a phone, and feels good in the hand, but sadly, I don't think there will be a 3.7" duo core Android phone in the future.

Which is too bad. I've looked at the 4.3" phones in Best Buy, and it looks great from a distance but I don't have any desire for it personally. I truly hope they stop getting bigger because I don't want bigger.

I'm the same way. I don't like the 4.3" inch form factor at all. It seems to be the only form factor phones are coming out in though.
