Root Should I create a Gold Card?

Do I need to create a Gold Card for my phone? Its been a year since I bought it, so HTC warranty is off, so is the carrier warranty....

Should I create one for 'just in case'? OR should I just root w/o it?

Alright, I will, Thanks. :)

(If I back up the SD card(copy paste everything in there to windows), create a gold card, and Paste everything back in there, will everything still work? (apps that are on SD etc).

Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Over here, they dont talk about creating a Gold Card at all. :(
/confused
Seems like he reverted to stock without Gold card....

Hopeful bump?

If your phone is unbranded then you don't need a gold card, which may be why it was never mentioned on the link you referred to. If your phone is branded then you should make a gold card so you can restore to the branded ruu.

If you ever need to run a ruu which is NOT your brand then you may require goldcard.

About the first question, can I just have a seperate SD to be the gold card? (a smaller capacity one) and use the one in my phone to partition it and so on?

Edit: I think I got it.
The SD card will be partitioned into two sections FAT32 and (NTFS?) using Gparted. That way the image will not be on the FAT32, but on the NTFS. Therefore I could still put in my music, videos etc. Also, Can a Gold card be used for A2SD+?

You can keep the gold card as a seperate card and safely lock it away.

The second partition is generally ext3 not ntfs.

The goldcard image will neither be on fat32 or ext3. It will be on a special area of your sdcard called bootsector.

You can make all cards as goldcards and you can safely use it for a2sd+.

Read the rooting sticky on goldcard.
