So I have backside and seen the laucher it came with, but I like go. The issue is I like my phone to be fast and smooth but not dumbed down. How much is go launcher eating my CPU and how much will the stock save me up.

I used to use Go Launcher myself, but kept hearing good things about ADW. I decided to try it out and found it to be much faster.

I've used ADW and LauncherPro and have been happy with both. Give them a quick try and see if what you think. They rarely show up as using that much CPU.

You should be able to over clock and have no problems. I tried it but it was to gimmicky for my tastes but it's nice having the themes. I use go sms and go contacts so I figured it'd be a nice fit.

I had been using Go SMS, but I tried Handcent and liked it better. I also played with Contaps, but it was a bit much. So now I use ADW Ex, Handcent, and the stock contacts.

I use Go launcher and agree that a lot of times when waking the phone, but especially when first booting there was a significant lag when the phone would be responsive because of Go launcher. I was using a very full 16gb card and Link2SD that was a class 2 card.
Yesterday my 16gb class 6 card showed up in the mail. I've noticed when first powering on the phone a very slight lag while Go launcher loads, but after that I've not been experiencing the lag issues I was before.

When using link2sd the better class the faster your apps will run since they use your card as your hard drive.

Yep.

Also been thinking of dropping Go Launcher in System / Apps instead of on the card at all. Thinking that might be even faster access.

I've been using GO Launcher since before even rooting, I keep it very minimal now days, so minimal some people would wonder why I even bother using it but I'm used to it. I keep it installed on the phone not the card, I don't use transitions, only 1 home screen with only 1 widget (clock, but not GO), only 1 dock line and just a few folders and icons in both the home and app tray. I only have 3 GO themes any more but the icons/dock look really nice and I like the function and look of the folders. It actually performs really well for me (not overclocked). The only time it's slow loading is in booting after being in recovery and did whatever and cleared cache.
There is a minor glich after the last update they had where ocasionally the icons (but not folders) on home screen will delay in snapping into position after rotation and I might let 'em know about that, but this app does constantly change and if it starts getting too bloated and I'm not happy with it I I"ll have to ditch it.

I've uses Go Launcher before Rooting my phone, no though I say away from it since its last up day. I now have LauncherPro in the System Partition of the Harmonia 2.03 ROM I'm running, and uninstalled the Stock Launcher.

LauncherPro is way faster then Go Launcher, and has a much cleaner look and feel.

I use ADW EX, seems alot faster then GO, it was always laggy for me even after overclocking.

Havent tried LP but I recommend switching to ADW

Has anyone tried the Zeam Launcher? It's supposed to be the fastest of them all.

My son is using it on his Prevail (courtesy of Bloodawn's CTMod rom).

It's very quick, very slick and especially effective for phones without a lot of memory.

A touch of themes and a cool dialer, and he's got one of the best looking Androids I've seen yet - way cooler than mine, actually.

So, a big thumbs up on the Zeam Launcher, if you want a fast launcher and a clean desktop.
