Should I get this from 3 or wait until the Widlfire arrives?

What is the version of Android it will come with and what version can I upgrade to before I start using it?

I wouldn't bother with the Hero at this stage, 3 are now offering the Desire and would recommend that over the Hero

At the moment, the Hero is shipped with Android 1.5. I'm surprised they aren't offering the Desire instead... It's got 2.1 and is generally much better due to it's hardware specs.
