I really wanna ditch my rumor touch that i've had since last summer but i don't know if i want to get the triumph or wait out for the supposed release of the optimus black? it would help if they would have a release date for it but any suggestions would be good.... virgin's 3g drives me nuts sometimes but i can't really find a better deal since i refuse to go on a contract.

If you are having issues with your RT buy the Optimus V. Despite what some say it is a very good phone. It will hold up to a 32 gig Micro SD and with an app like ApMonster you can back up and export apps off your phones memory to the SD card. Unless you use huge amounts of music or video files on your MSD card 8 gigs will probably last a long time.

The OV is an entry level Android for sure but it is a good phone. Spec hogs will tell you it is a POS but I would take my OV back in a heart beat over the MT.

If you have to have something better the OV is only 150.00 unless they raised it again.
Then wait until the Optimus Black comes out, if and when that happens wait, do not buy it right off. Find out what problems there are and let VM resolve them before you put your money out.

The 4 inch screen on this phone really is nice but the rest of the issues spoil the coolness there in.

If you can wait, I would but to me even the added user storage space sold me on it right away. Waiting MIGHT get you some good sales later on...

Optimus Black: On paper it's a step down from the MT given the hw specs. OMAP3 < MSM8XXX(has some -A9 features as Qualcomm designs their own CPUs from scratch and I don't believe that TI does anything other than possibly tweaking the base ARM design), along with the fact that Qualcomm pretty much owns CDMA and should be able to produce the best CDMA phones.

I'll move on to dual core when it comes, hopefully a Qualcomm(-A9) or Tegra 2.

(ARM Holdings offers two forms of licensing, one where a company licenses the right to design a compatible CPU from scratch, and a second where ARM provides designs ready to drop into a SoC... The latter seems to be what MANY companies do although some also do some minor optimizations to the ARM design, while Qualcomm does option #1.)

Doing a comparison on the Black and Triumph the Black is not really a step down.
It is about the same. The Triumph has some things that are better than the Black and the Black has some things that are better than the Triumph.
Compare phones: LG Optimus Black, Motorola TRIUMPH - Phone Arena

Check the comparison out for your self. Neither is a real step up or back it's more like a step to the side. It just depends on what your needs are.

You missed my SoC comparison. MSM8XXX > OMAP3, and about the only thing that might possibly be better if it even comes to VMUSA MIGHT be the LCD panel, everything is less or same but it boils down to the SoC for me and the fact that I'd rather have a Qualcomm SoC for a CDMA network phone.

Please, what does SoC mean?

I am not saying the OB is a better phone I'm just saying it's not a worse phone.
More a side step. For you it may be worse but the specs show that it is about the same.
It has more in one area than the MT and the MT has more in others.
It just depends on what a persons requirements are.

If we all waited for that "Perfect" phone to come out, we would all still be using circa 1995 phones or bag phones for that matter. There is no such thing as a "perfect" phone... Do your buying based on merits, not based on flaws.

We obviously have different expectations of what we want from our hard earned income.
Particularly when that income comes to 300.00
I want what I spend my money on to work. Maybe it is not that important to you but for many of us. The merits ARE if it works properly or not.
Merits, it displays pretty icons. and would work as a paper weight.
It's display is not as responsive as my Optimus V was, the GPS which I depend on for my job is no where near as fast or accurate and the OV. The camera as I found out today is not as color correct as my OV was. What else can it do? For me it is irrelevant to what it does not do that I need it to do. It is like buying a new car to get you to and from work, but the water pump does not work so you can only drive it a few blocks before you have to pull over, there is a flaw in the computer that shuts the car off every time you turn left. The car is crippled due to faulty hardware or software from the factory and does not serve your needs. Those needs you paid all your money for so you could get to work comfortably and dependably.
The phone is the same way. Crippled hardware or software makes the phone less than useful for me and others so I and others have a reason to be unhappy with what we didn't get from our 300.00.

Merit is meaningless when there is little merit in the product you purchased.

Then stick with your bag phone.

Your statements still does not explain the users issues, and why anyone should have to settle for any device where their are hardware issues, especially a 300 dollar investment, not all phones have issues ones that do are defective either through poor quality control or failed hardware, you really need to get your facts straight before offering mindless advice.
