Should I get the 2X

Hi,

I am looking to recycle my Desire and Wildfire through Orange, and buy an unlocked sim free 2X from Expansys brand new for

Heya,

Brought one of these phones 5 days ago, was in the same boat as you (couldnt justify the extra $$ between the 2X and the S2) and the only thing that put me off was seeing all the negative reviews on the various websites.

I have had minimal problems so far with the device, from what I can tell the various issues with it have been solved with the latest firmware update (I do get android home force closing sometimes but have stopped using it and am using launcher pro instead)

one thing to note is that 128MB of the available memory is reserved for the GPU and is unavailable for apps to use (although am yet to have any problems with running short of memory)

I would happily buy the 2X again if something happened to the one I currently have.

Hope this helps :)

My husband bought one 3 weeks ago and after getting the latest firmware update, it worked fine (it did have a few minor issues before updating), so I have just bought myself one as well and we have had no problems with either of them. I can't compare against similar phones though as these are our first smartphones. I love mine.

I was/am a apple fan and just bouhgt my 2x 1 week ago, seriously and trying not to offend anybody, the iphone is way much better. The lag on the screen is something that i find very important, the animations are awsome on the 2x but the battery will run out in 3 hours, even more if u have ur wifi on!
Im not happy with mine, im thinking already on going back to apple!

I got it, had it for 3 hours then sent it back to Amazon, the phone restarted itself a few times, it refused to get a GPS lock despite being in clear view of the sky (my Orange San Fran got a lock in under 15 seconds!!!) The LG updater is bonkers, one minute it says there's an update then it doesn't, then it does, then it doesn't!

Oh well, my Desire and Wildfire have gone, and so has the LG, shortest time i've ever had a phone, so my search for a new phone starts again. :(

I bought mine 1 month ago and I LOVE IT! It's super fast, the 8MP camera takes amazing pictures and the HD video camera takes great quality videos.
I also really love the fact that I can plug my phone to my tv to play games or watch videos.

As for battery goes, my phone can last at least 10 hours (with moderate use

I still can't make my mind up on this phone. SOrry - am upgrading in a little while and this is one of my options, as is the Sensation, (Atrix seems very expensive). I quite like the look of the phone and the UI seems straightforward, but there are some real horror stories. Should I get it?

I bought the 2X as I could not justify the cost of its competitors, what a mistake, the 2X felt and looked like a lovely phone, in fact it was awesome, the only problem was out of the box, it didn't work properly.

It kept rebooting itself, it would not get a GPS lock, and the updater on the LG website was a nightmare, it would say there was an update available then there was not then there was not etc etc

After only 3 hours I sent it back, bit the bullet, and got the Samsung Galaxy S II, it feels cheap in comparison to the 2X, but by god what a better phone, blisteringly fast, screen to die for, easy to use UI and more importantly it works faultlessly.

If you can bite the bullet and get the Samsung, you will not regret it.

Thanks - I would probably get the Sensation over the SGS II - am still dubious of the ability of a Samsung to last a contract (bad experiences with their older phones), although i am aware that the Samsung is meant to be an awesome phone. I'm not due the upgrade for a little while yet, so there mmay be some good promotions available that I can argue with an upgrade person about until they give me what I want. Cheers.

I have a brother-in-law who has had the sensation and sent it back in under a week for loosing the signal when held, he now has the samsung and is very impressed. I have bought the 2X and it works very well and i am more than impressed enough. swapping the rom for a custom rom should improve things. The same argument went through my head though is the samsung worth the extra
