Update: Conclusion, i still don't have a new phone, and i have been waiting so long I've decided to just wait until the holiday lineup of phones come out, still no decision on whether to switch companies or not.

Should I Get the Bionic?

Well, don't despair no matter which way the parents decide to go.
All of the major phone service providers have some pretty decent phones out right now, and even if you get one that's been out awhile on sale, there are some good deals out there. For instance, if you go with AT&T, you can get the original Atrix for sale, and it is a really sound, dual core phone that is a HUGE improvement over the Eris, IMO. Of course, there will be the $10 data charge for every GB of data you use after the 2GB allowance on that particular plan.
As someone else mentioned, if you are already on an unlimited data plan on VZW, it would be most wise of your parents to stick with VZW, as data costs do add up.

Traded a coworker my tbolt for his Bionic and it is awesome. very snappy fast phone. was having issues with the hotspot on the tbolt going in and out and have had no issues with the Bionic. Really want the Nexus, but the Bionic will help me wait until a price drop on the Nexus maybe after the first of the year.
