Should I get this phone or Bionic

The reason I am interested in this phone is the 4G. The features that I use the most on my phone is the browser, google voice, navigation, calendar, gmail and google reader.
I think I will like the 4.3 inch screen the most. Droid Bionic, Samsung LTE phone, Thunderbolt all have it.
I don't care much about HTC sense vs Motoblur. I think they are adequate as long as they don't slow the phone down. I can download widgets or apps that I want from the market. Don't care much about either because I'll be using launcher pro.
Does single core vs dual core really matter for what I use the phone for? I'm not going to do intense gaming. I might watch videos on youtube.
The only thing that makes me wait for Bionic is battery life. I hope the thunderbolt can last from 6am to 10pm(with moderate use) without me having to charge it.

Ok ill help you decide pick a number between 1 and 10

There are some debates on this a page or two back.

In general the Bionic is going to be considered the powerhouse gaming capable phone. Battery life is debatable all around and dependent on the 4G LTE bands.

The difference between the g2 Snapdragon and the Nvidia Tegra 2 really isn't much with regards to processing on the phones in general.

I myself was originally focused only on the Bionic at first but knowing how much positive experiences I've had with HTC as well as Sense vs Blur it really was a no brainer to me.

Oh and one thing to consider, when the Bionic comes out, will Verizon jack up the price of 4G by $10+ dollars like all the other carriers, if they don't charge more for 4G to begin with. Right now I don't see them charging more for 4G for their phones, but not for their USB devices. Who knows though, as quiet as they've been thus far, I can see them pulling all sorts of crazy shit between now and when it's released.

The locked bootloader is also a concern from me. I am relatively new to android, but is it possible to get free hotspot by rooting? Is it easy to do? Do the carriers catch you doing it and charge you later on?
I kinda like the bionic hardware better.
A thread like this is good to keep on the front page because I'm sure this will be going through the minds of many people. How many more threads of "When is the release date for Thunderbolt" do we need?

Yes its possible to get free hotspot from rooting and rooting is easy assuming you have beginner level computer skills

If that happens when the Thunderbolt is already out, I would run to the nearest BB or Verizon store to purchase a thunderbolt before the new 4G prices take effect.

Also, I like the sleekness of the Galaxy S phones. I prefer glossy plastic, it feels good in my hands and weighs less. Touchwiz doesn't bother me and as long as my apps work, I don't care about quick updates. (I'm not a power user).
If there is an announcement about the Galaxy S2 phone on Verizon, I might have to wait for that.

If all you're concerned about is specs, the Thunderbolt can't touch the Bionic. Personally I'm going with the Thunderbolt because I need a phone now and I've always had good luck with HTC devices.

The Bionic UI looks really laggy due to BLUR being on there. Dual Core right now is pretty useless as well, considering the Android OS is not written to take full advantage of it, in addition to Moto copping out and only putting in 512MB of ram in it.

ThunderBolt > Bionic

I know many people that have devices bade by both.
Most of them don't know what root is and don't care.
They use the device as intended by the maker and think their devices work fine as they are.

The only people that care about locked bootloaders are us in the minority.
Realize that us tinkerers are not their target customer.

I did not like blur at first but it's actually grown on me a little.
It really is not all that bad as it's made out to be.

I think both are great devices, but *I* and a tinkerer.
That means HTC makes more friendly devices for me.

If I had to choose I would choose the Thunderbolt because it fits *ME* better as a tinkerer.

I'm hoping HTC Sense is better in the android (TB) environment than it is in the WinMo environment. I currently have an HTC Touch Pro 2, running HTC Sense & WinMo 6.5 & the lag is absolutely terrible. Now, factoring in it's a 530mhz processor with 288MB of RAM, could have something to do with it.
