Help Should I make insurance claim? Broke screen

My Maxx did a belly flop out of my holster onto concrete the other week. Hit the ground flat onto the screen (I have a case around the rest) and cracked it. It still functions, but obviously isnt pretty anymore, and I wouldnt use it to watch video except under extremely boring conditions now.

Is it worth it to make an insurance claim now? I have had it since...February -ish.

What are drawbacks to making the insurance claim? Have never made one before.

The only downside here is your getting a refurbished/used phone instead of brand new. If you don't mind shelling out $100 to get the entire phone replaced or maybe $30 for the LCD screen to repair it yourself if your confident enough to. Then I say go for it.

Forgot to mention, I'm eligible for an upgrade in mid-January. (got this phone on a BOGO deal on a different line)

My deductible to get a replacement is $99 I think...
 
If there is a phone you are wanting, deal with the cracks and just replace it come Jan. If you don't want to use your upgrade and can't stand the crack, pay the $100 and get it replaced.
 
when I busted a phone last year I got a new one from asurion. in box and all. I'm sure you'd get a new one, but that's something to ask asurion. 888-881-2622

No, they give you refurbished phones if they have them. Unless you get a replacement in the first couple months a phone is out(before they get returned and refurbished phones) it will probably be a refurbished device.

You'll always get a phone in box with one of those fancy "don't text and drive" screen protectors, but asurion is NEVER going to send you a new phone. Only used/refurbished.
