Root Should I root my Evo 4G?

There are a few apps I've wanted to DL, but only work for rooted phones. Is it worth it to root my Evo?

Does it void my insurance or just my warranty? I obviously use it on Sprint.

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I tried searching for something similar and found nothing.

moved your post to the rooting section

1. it is definetly worth rooting your phone. when you are rooted you free yourself of the restrictions that htc and sprint puts on you. you are allowed to theme and mod your phone anyway you want. you can get better battery life. there are more ways to troubleshoot any issues you have.

2.yes it will void your warranty. but you can always unroot your phone to take it in.

3.unfortunately, you can't root your phone if you have gingerbread on it. and here is why:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...cant-root-your-gingerbread-2-3-3-evo-yet.html

also some more reading is needed so here you go:

I personally think the phone is awful unrooted. I hate 2.2 .... rom was slow and laggy ... and the battery life sucked azz !!!! There was so much you couldnt do. Set your phone free and root it ! You can always restore the phone to factory reset for any reason.

Rooting is absolutely worth it! Just don't under any circumstances let Sprint know you've rooted your piece!
Rooting does void your warranty, and I believe it violates the terms of the Sprint insurance plan.....if they catch you. :D
You can always just unroot before taking the phone into a Sprint store or sending it in. Easy peezy mac and cheesy.

Like ocnbrze said, you have to wait for a little bit to get root. It's close, keep checking back, because once it's found, this place will be celebrating like Christmas!

I rooted mine about two months after I got it last november. Never looked back. Battery life is awesomw. Slightly overclocked/underclocked on demand. It's fierce compared to my neighbors stock evo. Doing research and looking into a stable kernel/rom setup right now. How long have you had your phone? If you have a 2yr contract and its been a year......GO FOR IT!
