Root Should I root or not?

I bought my Fascinate (Verizon) almost a month ago. I really like the phone, and have come to terms with the 2.2 fiasco. So, I have been considering rooting the phone just to get top end for what I am paying for.

What I would like is for someone who has rooted their device to give me more or less a pros and cons of rooting. I appreciate it.

Root can be a fairly painless exercise...,however you have to be prepared for the possibility of something going wrong with a mod that you do to your phone

It is virtually impossible to permanently brick this phone....but still its best to be careful in what you do

Ok....warnings aside the root process and installing cwr is.fairly easy.and very little that can go wrong

Its best to read up on those processes in the root sticky.above and then ask any questions based on that. :)

I'm a recent noob to the rooting scene, and so far I am very happy with the results. Of course I'm part of the crowd that is anxious for 2.2 or 2.3 or whatever comes next...but I love JT's super clean DJ05 0.9 ROM that can be found on ROM Manager. Phone definitely runs smoother and faster :)

I just got my SF in the mail today and already rooted it. I flashed a dj05 radio, superclean v0.9 djo5 rom and stupidfast kernal v1.54 (?). I read so much about the phone before getting it that I knew the only way I would be happy with it is if I got rid of bing, upgraded to froyo and fixed the gps asap. I'm still getting everything loaded up at this point, but I think I'm gonna be very happy with this phone. Everyone here is very willing to help you through the process too. Good luck!
