Root Should I root?

I already downloaded the villain rom thing zip file i wanted, its on sd card, but how do I install it on this recovery mode screen!

With an all important nandroid backup, of course :P
 
it looks like everything worked but none of my apps were backed up :( not even titanium backup worked, maybe i did something wrong...
 
If you reinstall TB, open it and go to the Backup/Restore tab and scroll to the bottom you should see a load of entries in the list with dull grey, crossed out text. Those are all your backed up apps.

If you don't see them, then it's possible something went wrong when you tried to back them up.
 
They are all there?

In TB, hit the menu button and then pick 'batch'. Then pick 'Restore missing apps with data'. It will then show you a list of all the apps you're about to restore and and you can deselect any you don't want.
 
damn, so I have to press install on all 44 apps xD This will take a while lol Any chance of getting my contacts back though? It'll be a pain, if I'd known I would lose it, I would've backed them up some how

And at first glance, im not really noticing any differences apart from the startup screen villainrom, voice search, and news/weather widget...im still wondering what's changed.
 
You can get the donate version of TB and it skips all the next clicking for you :)

Unless your contacts were google contacts then no. Your only option would to be nandroid backup this ROM, restore to your old one, back them up, restore to this ROM and then restore the contacts.
 
Nah, I think I'll just get them back manually, it wont take too long. Thanks a lot for the help though but still...what's the difference between this and orange rom?

Also, I can't get donate version cause paid market isnt supported here yet...

Also, you can buy a TB licence via his website using paypal if you feel you need it.
 
That depends why it's struggling in the first place. (It might be lack of speed, it might be lack of 3D support, I don't know).
