Root Should I...Shouldn't I?

I realize this thread is probably dead but I just bought my Volt Thanksgiving day for $40.00. Felt like I practically stole it as I was using an Edge before (needs framework...xposed maybe?).Now I'm nearly as disgusted as I was with Edge. I'm not rooted, downgrading,rooting,upgrading....read of too many issues. However I'm getting desperate..yup, the SD card issue. Any help ~workaround for nonrooted? My lil MacBook g5 has died leaving me w/out pc..or I'd just copy to SD n delete off internal. Help ..Quick introduction: I'm Boston, cash poor student, part time Android tinkerer, with too much music, not brand new to life or droids or pcs...know enough to mess something up

What SD Card issue are you having? I am rooted and on eduardog's debloated rom and everything works perfectly. I highly recommend rooting if you want a clean responsive android experience.

Uggghhh...apparently I'm having the same issue as most nonrooted kit~kats are having. Had I bothered to check n see if it was a common problem. I'm sick of this! ...Thought I'd root easily, have a droid that had space to work with...What a mistake. (Though better than the Edge.) Ok, I was going to try a wild hairbrained idea to move apps to external sd card remotely...via Bluetooth...other phone is rooted. Although I'm ready to admit I need root. Not used to so,so many restrictions. ...How do you recommend I go about this without a pc? Any ideas are welcome... I'm longing for a great ux.

If you are on zv4, you must use a computer to go back to zv3, after that you don't need a computer.

Well I think it'll be tricky without a PC. I'm going to assume you're on ZV4, the latest stock version which as far as I know is unrootable via towelroot until you downgrade to ZV3. I don't think it'll be possible without a PC if you can't factory reset to ZV3.

The answer is in this thread though.

As for moving apps to SDCard, I used root with Link2SD to successfully move apps off the internal sd card. Hope this at least leads you in the right direction. I can definitely be more specific if you want to go the PC route though I think a non-PC solution is impossible to my knowledge if you're on the latest software.

The answer is the same as any non-Play ed. phone with 1gb of RAM. Root, debloat, firewall. Hell my friends even have me debloat their Play ed. phones. This phone is pretty damn good. There are a few radio issues. Im actually going to try Llama to see if it helps the phone jump to 3G when the LTE signal is sputtering. Battery on this is whats keeping me on VM and this phone. I have a TMo phone on their 30 5gb plan I use as a hot spot in the car. Will prob go to them if this doesnt get any ROMs or an official Lollipop update by summer.

I hadn't thought of that....the factory reset. Sounds feasible. The phone came out the box ZV3. Soon as i tapped activate it did an OTA upgrade. I'm headed off to check out that link. Oh yeah, know of anyone who tried the factory reset? This is actually the longest I've had a non root phone in years! Hating every minute of it :( thanks for input guys!
