Should I wait for LTE?

Can't wait to see those LTE speeds (I heard they're around 30-40Mbps. I'd be happy if it were at least 5Mbps)

I cannot wait either, and I would also be more then happy with 5mb if it were very consistent. However, I don't think Sprints LTE will be quite as fast as 30MB. Sprint is (initially) running a 5x5 LTE carrier (compared to Verizon's 10x10 LTE carrier), so I dont think we'll see speeds quite that fast. However, we do have less subscribers, so that is a positive. Additionally, Sprint will likely be adding a second 5x5 LTE carrier at 800mhz, which will help dramatically with signal coverage/penetration, and add more capacity. :)

The article below give a better description, but this is it in a nutshell.

I read that the speeds will not compete with Verizon's LTE network. Sprint is building it for stability which they anticipate users having around 10-15 down, and around 5 on the up.

Oh.. I see. Thanks for that. Hopefully it'll be consistent and be much improved compared to WiMax at the moment :)

As long as it's consistent and I can load a youtube video without having to wait 10 minutes to load a couple seconds of it, I'll be a happy camper with my unlimited data :D haha

Oh yeah. I'm in a great WiMAX coverage area, so I luckily don't have any consistency issues on that front, but I see the best asset of LTE is the wide range of supported regions. LTE isn't going to be like WiMAX where coverage stops due to a 3rd party running out of funding. If LTE fails, there will be only one person to blame - Sprint.

Dan Hesse.
I wonder if that guy will be around once LTE is deployed in several markets...

Ehh, I wouldn't blame Hesse. He's the reason Sprint hasn't already faltered long ago. If the Sprint board gets rid of him, the company will go downhill.

That's true I suppose... But then again, I have no idea what's happening to other carriers since I've been part of TMobile for the past 8 years.

Why does everyone dislike the guy?

I don't think anyone does dislike him, other then the board cuz they want Sprint to make money... He has been slowly turning around a sinking ship.. and with Network Vision just around the corner, he's got a good chance of saving it. I think as a consumer, Hessi is the man you want running Sprint.

I've seen some people on sprintfeed and other android sites the other day saying how Dan Hesse is making sprint worse and that he should be fired.

Let's just chalk that up to people having no idea wtf they are talking about. If there is anything I have learned in my short existence in this world, it is that people will complain for the sole sake of complaining. It's extremely annoying and idiotic.

Wise words from a wise man ._.

So if sprint gets rid of Hesse, sprint is basically gonna go down under?

Sprint without Hesse would be Sprint of the Nextel merger era. Any of the long-time Sprint subscribers can tell you what a fun time that was. :p

I just want to the new network to be stable and reliable. I really don't care if it's the fastest; what good is speed if it's not even available?
