Help Shut down screen when taping

Is there a way to shut down the screen while videotaping? If I lock the screen, it shuts down the video. When the phone is in a stable position, there is no need to use the screen as a view finder and run down the battery more.

I believe there are apps that will do that.

Please note: not only does no one refer to the action as "taping" anymore, but since there is no tape involved at all, it's an incorrect term. Best: "video recording".
