Help shutting apps off

elements

Member
Greetings, I am new to this coming from Blackberry and there are a few things I could not figure out. After using an app or the browser, is there any way to turn it off so it is not running in the background? I know you can go to settings and then manage apps and then force quit, but is there anyway to do it right off the app menu itself? Also BBs love to be topped off. I know that with some batteries you can over charge them and toast them, blackberry likes it. I don't want to bloat the battery, not sure if these batteries can handle being on a charger constantly.

This forum has pretty much answered every question via the search but I could not find anything on shut down question.

Many thanks

That is pretty much the only way to force close apps without the use of an additional app to do so. Really, you don't need to worry about closing apps when you are done with them. Android 2.2 OS is very good at managing resources and will close what it needs to. Whatever you do, don't download an app killer from the market, those are one of the worst things you can put on your phone.

If you do a restart by holding the power button. It will close all apps and restart the phone. I know not really practical but its another option.

As someone else said, back button will exit the app if it can be totally exited. With an Android device there is really no need to do that though. Your phone will manage the memory on its own and close things when it needs the memory. You shouldn't notice any performance differences either way and apps in the background aren't really actively using memory or battery.
