Help side bar vanished?

it said it had stopped working so i turned it off and on and now it is not there, how do you get the side bar back on the left side of the screen, the one with all the icons on?

So you've restarted the device, and you tried holding the back button?

its back thanks for the top tip of holding the back button.

Im just worried it is as fragile as windows and something can just be removed easily and it destroy the operating system....

:)

my side bar does not even show up when I press and hold the back button.

Where are you guys from? I got my phone in canada via telus

Don't even have one yet ;P Waiting for VZW on the 27th. I've seen this recommended in other threads. Look in your menu options and make sure you didn't disable it. If not, reboot the phone!

(Does that menu show up only if you have the s pen out?)

I got a Korean one. I'm glad that the tab goes away. It is so displeasing to the eye. It can be moved. Just found that out a month in. :D

I hear the Korean version has it but not the North American. Is this true?

Nope. Sprint is rolling out an update that adds the multi-view bar. So far, Sprint's version of the Note 2 is the only US variant with this feature.

If you want to add additional apps to the multi view tab, you will need to root your phone.

There is a thread over at XDA which gives you all the details

Thanks. I just wondered as the twitter and Facebook apps seemed to appear on there and these were obviously not on when I got the tablet

Interesting, I believe certain apps will work on multiview but to add a whole host of others, you will need to go down the rooting path.

My knowledge on all this tech is very slim so hopefully the more experienced members will be able to provide more info.

My wish is to one day root my phone...at the moment Im confused on how to do it - it looks very complicated.

Its really not that complicated, but for me I won't root this phone just yet. Things can be almost too expected of this phone and I'm not going to rush into rooting just to get a few minor enhancments.

My side bar disappeared too. Was there when I went to sleep and when I woke up it was gone. A reboot might bring it back but honestly that little tan thing was just irritating me. Maybe it won't ever come back! The multi windows make everything to small to really do anything.
