Help Sideloading on Captivate WITHOUT using USB/PC?

Hello!
I recently bought a Samsung Captivate from Craigslist (big mistake) , and it ends up that the USB port is broken and not able to be repaired. I can't connect my phone to my PC . I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to sideload(i think that is what I want to do) apps onto my Captivate without connecting to PC. My goal is to eventually be able to wireless tether. :-)
I have looked and looked for an answer in these forums before I asked.
I have a rooted, unlocked? Phone with Eclair?
Would someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me? Thank you in advance :)

Just copy the .apk file from your PC onto a micro SD card and then mount the card into the back of the phone. That is how I loaded
Netflix onto mine.:)

Call AT&T and they will push the update to your phone. They have recently allowed sideloading, won't take long at all.

I have the apk file on my phone, I just cant install it. I get a message saying something like "non-market apps are restricted" etc.
