Root Signal Problems

JBillz

Lurker
I have a problem....a few days after I installed MikG 3.11, my signal got very weak. I dunno if it's because of the new ROM or network issues...even though I doubt that it's the network cause before I installed the ROM, I was getting at least 3-5 bars while I was at home, now I only get 0-2 bars. I thought it was a radio issue, so I downloaded and installed Baseband 2.15.00.12.19 & PRI 2.33_003 (OTA 4.67.651.3), but nothing changed. I could've done something wrong, but if I did, I wouldn't kno where to look.

I dunno if this is helpful but....

Android Version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Software Number: 4.67.651.3
PRI Version: 2.33_003
PRL Version: 61007
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.12.19
Build Number: MikG- v3.11

ROMS don't touch anything to do with your radio. So you should have basically the same signal no matter what one you are on. If this is your first custom ROM you may perceive a difference in signal because MikG displays your true signal whereas the stock one will fib a bit to make sprint look better.

You can also try updating PRL and profile

If none of the above work try updating your radio. (never pull a battery during a radio update...surefire way to brick your device)

Thanks for responding! I've had my Evo for about a year now, rooted with rEVOlutionary and it never lost its signal while I was on the phone at home like it does now, but maybe with the PRL and Profile update I can probably get some results. Not to sound like a complete noob, but where can I find the PRL and Profile update lol?

I just updated both the PRL and Profile, and there's no change...anymore suggestions? :(

But like rxpert said you might not always have had good signal where you are, it was just the stock rom lying to you because that's what it does (it says you have 3g everywhere even if you only have 1x and it puts more bars than it really has) you can flash another Rom and then back to stock and you will notice all custom roms tell you your actual signal unlike the stock rom

You have the updated radios. So it looks like for some reason the area you are in is just getting less of a signal.

Hmmm, if there's nothing I can do about it, then it's cool. I just wanted to see if I can improve it. Thanks for all the help tho!
