Signal strength GS3 VS Note 2?

Does anyone know or understand why these two phones have different signal strengths? My Note 2 seems to be awesome for phone signal and 3G. The GS3 can be right next to the Note 2 (or placed right in the exact same spot the Note 2 was in) and has no data and is roaming.

I'm so confused and am not sure how to explain this to the BF or fix it if it's possible. Both phones are rooted. Could this be a ROM issue?
 
Hmm.... Maybe I'll try to call them tonight when we have both phones back home. I have a feeling they will just tell me to bring it into the repair shop though and we don't have insurance. I wonder if I can go through Samsung after sprint tells us what's wrong...

well I got an answer from Sprint. Apparently the GN2 has a wider antenna range then the GS3 does.

I was told the GS4 has the same range as the GN2, so maybe he will upgrade to that in July

I will be curious how the signal on Verizon s4 is compared to the note 2. My note 2 has much better reception than the s3
 
Totally different here with mine in the uk as the wifes gs3 always has a better phone and 3g signal than my n2.
 
Could be Roms also , I'd back up & wipe, reflash odin back stock base / kernel to both with them, update profile / prl then retest in more than one area! If ones got awesome strength, the other should definitely not be roaming nearby!
