Help Signal strength issue

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a weaker signal(phone service not wifi) with LG phones. Recently my signal has gotten worse at home. I have dropped calls a couple times and occasionally go into roaming mode.

My daughter and I both have issues and we both have LG phones (mine Optimus M hers is a feature phone). We fluctuate from 0-2 bars service signal (mostly 0)

My wife who has a Samsung (feature phone) always seams to have 2-4 bars of signal strength.

Unfortunately since my wife does not have a smart phone I can not run the app to test her signal strength ( I realize visual signal indicator may not be the same across different brand phones). So I'm just wondering if anybody else noticed better signal with different brand phones.

I may have to drop my LG OM for the new Samsung Attain.

Note: I've been to Metro PCS corporate store and have been told(and shown on a map) that I live just outside of a "moderate service area" (it literally ends about 100 yards from my home. And was told that they can not guarantee signal strength within a building. (This is a single story home in the burbs...not a skyscraper in NYC!)

Basically I'm screwed cuz she said there is nothing they can(or are willing to) do. So I was hoping to get the phone that pulls in the signal best and hope it's acceptable.

yes, two LG's with poor signals and one Samsung which seems to not have any issues...and yes all three are MPCS.

Is Samsungs antenna system better or something?

I would think the Samsung antenna is more receptive to a faint cell signal since there isn't much else going on a feature phone. A smartphone would normally introduce some interference issues.

I too get very low bars where I live but the reception appears to be good and I send and receive MMS just fine. But generally I did notice the bars were lower on the LG when I switched to it from a previous Samsung feature phone.

Really sounds like it's a design issue coupled with poor coverage area in your home.

Found that my wife had PRL 3019 so I went back and switched mine to PRL 3020 (I don't have the PRL 3019 file). That seems to help my signal at home, I'm now getting one to three bars regularly. I assume this will probably have a negative effect on my 3G coverage (haven't really tested yet).

I have wifi at home so that's fine, its just a shame that I have to choose btwn tolerable phone coverage at home and 3G data coverage while I'm not at home.
