Help Signal Strength

The battery life and the 4G signal could be related

I did have the Razr and the battery lasted long enough for me. I did set up a smart action to use WiFI vs Cellular data when WiFi was available though.

love most everything about the gnex so far, but i am noticing a drop in signal strength ... just based on "seat of the pants" observations at my office (compared to OG).
 
Same here OTD. Rezound and Gnex reception comparison isn't even close. Rezound got rock solid LTE in my office. Gnex gets NO LTE in my office. Very disappointed.

Took the OTA.

Signal strength is exactly where it is with two droid charges and a few moto devices like razr and bionic at my desk. -76db
 
If this is your first 4g phone, battery drain has been a problem when you have a weak 4g signal. But if you aren't familiar with purchasing phones like us junkies...Give it 3-4 days. Let the phone learn how you are going to use it and it will manage battery better. To my knowledge, this has been the case with most phones in the past year - two years.

Also, the extended battery adds literally no bulk to the phone. So keep that in mind! You can actually use the stock back with it even though it comes with one.
 
I also would like to add, most of us veteran 4g users use a widget (on the bionic) or go into settings and turn off 4g unless we are streaming/downloading. The woes of new technology!

They were talking about this in the store! android keeps battery stats, takes a few days to get accurate reporting/calibration.

This is no surprise at all and don't expect it to get any better. I was lucky enough to have a Nexus a few wks back to use which I now gave back. And the main reason is because of the batter life and signal. The radio in this device IMHO is just pure GARBAGE. And if folks think it will get better I would not count on it. Under normal condition when I had access to it it almost ALWAYS was at -100dBm+ which is terrible signal. Didn't matter when SW was on it either. I had also had many data drops on it sometimes requiring a reboot like the bionic has.

I realize the device just hit today but my guess is this is going ot be a major problem for alot of folks. And many get ticked enough to return it and I wouldn't blame then. Exactly why I gave the one back I had access to. Its just not worth the frustration. I'm glad to be back on my Razr or Bionic that will last me on 1 charge at least a full 15hrs for my usage where the Gnex was dead in under 6-7hrs.

The Galaxy Nexus has the same exact radios as the Charge. Nothing new.

I was reading these threads because I too was wondering if the lousy Samsung radios in my Charge might make it into this phone. I'll keep watching to see how things develop. I'm thinking the Rezound might be the way to go for me.
 
I tried to warn some folks in the main thread a few times, and was jumped on a bit for it. Nothing excessive, but I think that the fanboyism took over on this one.

Its one of the reasons that I bailed on the GN and got a Razr. Could not be happier. Only thing I am missing right now is ICS, but we already have a dev with ICS booted on it. More goodness to follow.

As Ive stated before, Moto is king of radios. I will definitely have a Nexus someday, but not today. Most likely when Motorola is making the phone and not Samsung.

I never really had dropped calls with the Droid Charge, but the call quality is total crap using EVRC and EVRC-B. They took away 13K with the recent GB update. Even following the GB update, the Charge's wifi connection is lousy. And 3G and 4G doesn't seem much better where I'm at either.

If the Galaxy Nexus is truly using the same radios, I think you're going to have some unhappy customers.
 
Galaxy Nex does use the same radios, but will take a few days to get a good consensus if an issue or not.

What mainly matters anyway is the user and their experience with this device and the one they replaced it with.
 
I am concerned with this issue. I would have been coming from a moto A855 and live in a fringe area. I might be sticking it out for a moto nexus
 
Well the sales guy is going to replace my sim card and see if that will help. I am skeptical at best.

Surely not what I was told by several people in the main 'waiting room' thread. They insisted it was a 'new' radio and improved. Either way it's not good, that's becoming quite clear.
