Root Signs of sdcard dying?

I've only had this Sandisk 8GB (class 4 I think?) for 4 some odd months and I'm starting to notice sluggish behavior when opening apps that are on the ext partition or when the Market updates apps they take a while to install, sitting at "installing...." for 10 minutes or so even though they're already installed. At one point one rom I installed formatted the ext to ext4 and when I flashed another rom I had to reformat it back to ext3 via my laptop. The Fat32 partition seems ok, I haven't seen any odd behavior or corruption with the files on there yet, should I reformat the ext partition again to see if it fixes anything or do a fsck?

I'd reformat in gparted anyway just to see if it makes a difference.

Full titanium backup, Factory reset, format ext in Gparted, Full titanium restore.

Why do this instead of nandroid? Just incase there is an issue with the EXT FS, Titanium isn't backing that up where as nandroid possibly will be doing.

Seems to have fixed the long installing on Market updates or new app installs, haven't noticed any difference on performance yet though. I did a fsck on the partition anyways when I mounted it on my laptop and found no errors or anything.
