Help Silent mode killing battery?

I have my phone set up to vibrate as well as ring on calls/texts and the battery life has always seemed normal. For the last week or so there have been a couple of days when I have had to have my phone in silent mode (vibrate only) the majority of the day. With no more texts or calls than on any other day the battery life has been terrible. Is this just a coincidence?

So I have tried silent mode as well as vibration mode and both yield the same poor battery life. Any ideas?

When you have the need to use silent/vibrate mode, are you in a different location than normal... ? If true, you might have less reception in that area, therefore greater battery drain. Otherwise it is just coincidence.

Do you normally have your phone set to ring AND vibrate or just ring? Vibrating uses more battery.

I normally have it set to ring and vibrate. I thought about the location. It is different, sort of. It is about 30 ft from my normal desk but it is right next to wall. The reception in my office already sucks but I image it could be worse in certain areas.
