Help "Sim Authorization Error" RAZR outage

Yeah i just gor my razr on monday night and lost 4g service around 2pm in the afternoon yesterday, customer service and tech support suggested i get a new sim. I went down to a corporate store and was informed that it was network issue, it was weird as i checked out the demos on display all of them had 4g working fine with no sim card auth error, so i was a bit confused, and thought the rep maybe bsing me, so i left, went home searched online and found it that it was a network issue, made me feel better. My 3g worked fine all day yesterday btw.
 
I used to get them from a Vodafone SIM card that I cut myself. Now I use an Etisalat SIM that I cut using the same cutter - the card is 5 year younger - and it works perfectly fine.

I will have to try as I have a uSIM that I got from Voda
 
I lost my 4G around 5:30pm yesterday when I was in Wrentham, MA
3G still works. Went to Verizon and some other guy came in with a Razr with the same problem and I was told it was the network after the tech spoke with the manager

I checked out their display Razrs and they were doing the same but at least we all had 3G the Bionic on display had the same problem but no 3G to back it up
 
Had the issue last night, went through tech support, tried turning LTE off and on, and still couldnt fix it. Went to VZW store they replaced the sim card, they then found out about the outage through their system (some national broadcast). The tech was able to activate the sim and the phone was working, and 4G came back on. No problems since.

If you have no data at all:
settings> wireless> mobile networks> network mode> change to CDMA Only> home button, then airplane mode (hold down power button and select), then un-airplane mode. You should then have 3g data until things are fixed (I hope this isn't just a transient fix). You need to turn off WiFi to see the 3G icon.
 
Same issue here in the DC area. They reported it to the third level engineers, but seeing this thread I'm sure they were already aware of it.
 
If its an " outage" then how does replacing the sim card help? Wouldnt the new sims get the error as well??
 
I'm in MD/DC and this issue started around 4:30pm yesterday. Around 6pm I went to the VZW store. They didn't have any tech onsite so we called tech support from the store.

The tech over the phone said it was a network issue effecting the East Coast from Maine to Virginia. All LTE devices are having issues with LTE and the RAZR is also providing the notification message.

We looked at all the LTE devices in the store and they had all dropped to 3G. Their RAZRs also showed the notification.

As of now, 12:00 nooon EST, I just rebooted my RAZR and I'm still having the issue.
 
I had the same error about twenty mins ago. I did a hard rest by holding the power button and the down volume button. when it came back on it way fine.
 
My bf's razr won't recognize his 4g sim, and turning off 4g does nothing. His phone only displays 1x and he has no data connection. We're in MI... anyone else in the midwest having this problem??
 
I'm in Wisconsin. Didn't get the red X until this morning around 9:30. I just turned my phone off, removed the SIM, let it sit for a few minutes, re-installed and I haven't had an issue since...?
 
Mine happened today sometime this morning (1:00PM here now), but I don't know when. I didn't look at my phone all morning while at work.

I did restart my phone at lunch, and it did get rid of the red "X", but I still don't have data, or at least it doesn't indicate that I have data.

I too, live in a 3G only area...

I also had this problem, I am in Northwest Arkansas. I noticed it around 2:30pm yesterday, and happened to be near the vzw store so I stopped by. I was on 3G and still able to use the phone/internet. The first tech person suggested the sim card be replaced, but the second person told me to call customer support. Interestingly, he had a Razr as his phone but had no clue what was wrong with mine... Phone rep just told me to make the tech person swap out the sim card. This fixed the problem, and I was back on 4G instantly.
 
I got this error yesterday. I went to my local VZW store and they replaced the SIM. Today, the same thing happened again. I'm going to let it ride a few days and see if VZW figures it out. I really like the phone.

I am in Pittsburgh too. I got the x yesterday around 5 pm. Today I just did a hard reset and the x is now gone and my phone was on 4g for a few minutes and is now back to 3g but the x is gone.
 
Mine just started a while ago. In Northern Indiana. Seems 3g speeds have dropped considerably. Did a speed test before this happened, just luck of the draw on timing as I didn't know this was coming, and it hit 1.58mb down on 3g. Did three now post red X and it dropped to under .30mb. Sucks....growing pains for 4g. Just hope they upgrade our area for it soon so we can enjoy the speeds.
 
Interesting stuff going on...wonder if this has something to do with a massive new rollout to 4g in new areas. I did the hard reset, it came back no red X. So I did speed test again,four of em. During the second test, pop goes the red X again. But the next two tests were great speed wise and even on the graph to the right it looks almost like there were a couple huge speed spikes in there as the average was 1.40mb down but in that average was a monster uptick spike on both post the last runs. So maybe they're working on upgrades which is causing the discomfort.....really as long as the phone still connects I'm ok with it as long as it's not a long issue.

Yesterday had no 3g for 2 hours at the same time got this error. 3G came back for 2 hours, then was gone again. Called customer service - problem with data in the area, they are working on it. 3G restored by the morning (not when I went to bed at 10:30pm). Still could not shake the SIM card error after multiple restarts and removing/installing the SIM card. Went to the Verizon store over lunch - got a new SIM card. It tried activating for an HOUR! Retry - no good. I just powered it off, removed/installed SIM, booted - will not activate. Called C.S. again....Very annoyed! They claim there are two issues: both 4G related, but the girl didn't really give me a straight answer. Basically told me that in the next hour (made up time since I asked her an ETA for a fix and at first she said she didn't know). I've been trying to get this phone activated since 1:00PM EST today. It's now 3:33PM. I cannot make a phone call and have no data. More than VERY annoyed! :mad:
 
Doh! I just lost all 3G and 4G today at 3:30pm ET

Yesterday I had the same error with the sim card. I Took it to the verizon store where they swapped out the SIM card. It worked great after that. Now I am completely dead when it comes to data.... humm.

Edit: Just tried my 4G/3G Aircard and no dice there.
Edit again: 3G Signal on Aircard came through, but I can't connect.
Edit one more time: 3G is back around 7:15pm ET
 
I just called as well. They told me they have documented an outage in the northeast beinging yesterday. I'm in central Oklahoma so they added me to the ticket. The outage is apparently spreading as the level 2 tech I spoke to told me that she just received some calls from California as well.

I suggest everyone call and get a problem ticket. That may they can document the extent of the issue. I also had them mark a complaint in my account as I plan on requesting monitary remediation for my trouble. They said if the problem become nationwide that Verizon will apply credits automatically.

STILL with "SIM Authorization Error" in my status bar. It's been 24 hours now VZW,get it MOVING HERE.
