SIM card changed, select carrier

Whenever I turn my Desire on and off I get a notification saying that the "Sim card has been changed" and then "Select Carrier". Originally when I bought my phone my carrier T-Mobile was listed as an option but now the option to select T Mobile has disappeared and I am just left with Mobile World, Talk Talk Mobile, Utility Warehouse and Virgin Mobile. My number used to be Virgin but was ported over to T Mobile nearly 9 months ago when I got the phone. How do I get T Mobile to appear on the list and is this causing a problem if I don't select anything.

I've read that I need to "Restore to deafult" on the APN settings page but I can't seem to find this option.

Can anyone help?

It still asks to confirm the carrier when I turn the phone on/off.

In.settings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, apn, if you hit menu is there not a restore defaults option there?

No, there is no option that comes up when you press menu on the APN screen.

Hmm hopefully this will be resolved in the new update.

Try a SIM from another carrier, then if you can try a different SIM from your carrier. See if it sorts itself, it may be a problem with your card, if you call the operator with that phone they will be able to tell as soon as they asnswer your call if your sim is faulty.

I'm on the giffgaff network in the UK and I had this issue. I’m pretty sure this problem is because Android thinks your giffgaff SIM card is an O2 SIM card and displays the warning message unless your access points (APNs) match one from a pre-defined list.

My workaround was to reset the APN settings then choose one of the pre-defined carriers (in my case Tesco mobile) and edit the APN settings so that they worked for my network, leaving the name as Android had set it.

To reset, get to the APN menu:
Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Reset to default and choose from the list of providers:
Menu > Reset to default
