Help SIM card PUK locked, keypad help???

My X10 is locked with the message SIM card PUK locked. I have the PUK code but cannot get the keypad up on screen to enter. The only thing I can do is make an emergency call.
I have been told to take it to vodafone shop to unlock.
Any suggstions would be most appreciated.

if you pressed emergancy call, does it open a dialer to enter the code maybe?

yes it opens the dialer. I have entered the PUK code here, but it does not work

The solution is
Tap Emergency call and enter the following sequence using the keypad: * * 0 5 * [PUK] * [new PIN] * [new PIN] #.
It works!!!

Once the sim is PUK locked, nothing can be done, as that means the PUK code has been entered incorrectly too many times. So unfortunately, you will have to get a new sim
