I'm not sure how a SIM card would connect you to the internet. SIM cards basically tell your phone carrier who you are. This is so they can tell if you have a voice/text/internet plan with them. You would need an account with a carrier to use data over 2G/3G/4G. However, if you just want to use Wi-Fi, most devices will either just let you use Wi-Fi, or will have a way you can "unlock" them.
