Help SIM Card

Well, I WAS going to get my girlfriend a Thunderbolt for her birthday BUT unbeknownst to me she bid for one on eBay and won. However, she said that it doesn't come with a SIM card. Can she get one from VZW? How much are they?
*sigh* Now I have to get her something else. Maybe an extended battery and case....oh, never mind. She ordered that too! :D
 
She will be able to get one from VZW pretty easily, shouldn't be a charge on it, I don't think. Good luck with more ideas :)
 
There shouldnt be a charge. Your best bet would be to go to a Verizon store and activate it there. they will activate a new sim for you.

I went from a Tbolt to X to the tbolt again and they had to send me a new sim for that activation.
 
Since she's getting this used. Can she get insurance for it? I don't think VZW will cover this since she bought it on eBay.
 
If I get rid of my thunderbolt would the new owner have to get a new sim card for it to work? Does Verizon charge for these?

Yes, he/she would need to get a new SIM card from VZW. I'm not sure if you need to pay for them or not. I'd like to think that since you're activating a phone on their network they wouldn't charge, but what do I know ;)

I have always been able to add insurance on phones I purchased on Ebay. Granted the phones I buy usually haven't been out long but I have never had a problem adding the insurance at activation.

Verizon is sending me a new SIM card and they told me to destroy the original one because it has my account info on it. Assuming that's true, and I think it is, 'though it is never a safe assumption when speaking with Verizon employees, that would explain why a phone bought on eBay shouldn't have a SIM card.
 
All is well. She got a SIM card for free and the insurance that she had for her DInc transferred over to her Thunderbolt. She is one happy girl.

BTW... I got her flowers and her and her best friend a day at a spa.
