Help (simple) HTC Mail Question

Is there a way to quickly navigate through e-mails in the HTC software? It seems like a huge oversight. The only way I can do next/previous mail while in the reader is to either hit the menu button and select next or to return to the message list and pick another message. All other mail apps I've seen (touchdown, touchwiz, gmail, etc..) have a 'next' and 'previous' button. Please tell me I'm missing something obvious.
 
The only two ways I know of is to either press the search button. Or once you start scrolling you can grab the little slider on the right that shows how far you are down, It may take a few tries because its so small.

Sorry I wasn't clear. In the read message mode, there are only buttons to reply, relpy all, forward, move to, and delete. There are no navigation controls like 'next message'.

I think its odd that there is no mention of this anywhere else. To me, coming from a blackberry, this is a huge issue when you use this phone as one of your main e-mail devices.

Maybe its because most people use one of the many "mail widgets"?

I agree, this is annoying. I come from iPhone, and fully expect to be able to go to next or previous message. I also miss being able to mark the message unread from within the message itself, rather than back button, check mark the message, then hit mark unread.

Apart from this, the integrated HTC mail app seems pretty good. It handles my three email accounts no problem.

SEPARATE ISSUE: my gmail and hotmail messages are coming in as text; I can't find where to indicate HTML email. Any ideas?
