so as usual i'm late to the game in updating to jellybean. i took a break from studying and decided i was going to update since the official release is out.
ALL DESCRIBED HERE WAS DONE ON A PC RUNNING WINDOWS 7
I tried to sync my phone with KIES and i got the dreaded "connecting..". well after 30 minutes of connecting i decided to get my google on and solve this problem because i want jellybean! well after trying all of the solutions you find on the net. (remove sd, troubleshoot connection in tools, uninstall reinstall,*#72486# and selecting pda, none of it worked.) needless to say i was expletive. then i stumbled across this:

click on manuals and downloads, then click on software.
you will see: Device(Install),Others (Software) (ver.OS Update GC01 (Jelly_Bean))
this is the not KIES way to update to jellybean.
1. download it. it's kind of big, like 550MB if memory serves.
2. after you have it downloaded go ahead and open and install it.
it will create a laptop icon on your desktop that will say "SimpleDownloaderTool for SPH_D710"
3. click the icon to launch the program
4. follow what it tells you to do, it's very specific here's the link to what it will tell you:
SAMSUNG
5. enjoy stock jellybean GC01
the only hiccup i had with this was when i did the upgrade it restarted in encrypted status and asked for a PIN or Password. i just went into recovery (from power on: hold power button and volume up) and did a factory reset and wipe cache partition.
NOW SH!T'S ABOUT TO GET REAL!!

WANT GB27 WITH ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TROUBLE YOU JUST WENT TO GET GC01?
here's the instructions:
1. follow the directions above and just use the 2nd URL for GB27.
i do not know if you can just flash GB27 over ICS. i flashed GC01 over ICS and the flashed GB27 over GC01.
my phone is fast, faster than it was noticeably.
THESE ARE COMPLETELY STOCK ROMS WITH ALL THE BLOATWARE
so now that i am on jellybean, i am going to root and do some debloating with some titanium back up.
i hope this helps. who knows, maybe a dev can pull the rom out of the .exe and get some hawt GB27 going on a custom jellybean rom.

**edit** i forgot to mention the GB27 is a Sprint rom. it works fine though.
