Yes, it does. Albeit it is a trickle charge and does not charge as efficiently as plugging it into the AC adapter.

Yes, just don't do what I did last night. Plugged the phone into my laptop and went to bed. Problem is...when the computer went to sleep, power to the usb turned off. Yay! Dead phone this morning
