I installed the "data service governor killer". ANd have since done a factory reset. Is the governor killer still active or do I need to install it again???

Also, when you do a factory reset, does that not wipe all caches as well??? I am thinking these multiple wipes are a waste of time and just a superstitious sort of thing....can "crumbs" actually be left behind after a wipe???

1) What do you mean by factory reset? If you just did a data wipe, and didn't touch your ROM, then the mod is still active. It is a change the services.jar, which is in /system. A data wipe won't touch that. If you:

a) reflashed your ROM,
b) flashed a different ROM, or
c) did absolutely anything to wipe what was in /system and flash something else it its place (such as unrooting),

then you no longer have the mod. The term "factory reset" when you have root is kind of a broad term :).

2) Theoretically, one wipe should be enough. Take that advice with a grain of salt.

Thanks Bomb....I did a reset and wiped everything and installed a different ROM. Do by your answer, I guess it is no longer there. I installed it with Warm Z and that ROM worked fine until I installed it then everything went bonkers. So I did a restore back to Mik's. Now I am trying Koni's for no real reason because Mik's was pretty damn good. I can always go back I guess.

Now I am under the impression that I can install that governor killer with any ROM??

When you flash it, it replaces your services.jar, so only flash it on ROMs that that particular services.jar works with. If it's a Z ROM, use the governor mod if it's provided. I believe there is one provided for Warm Z. Is that what you used?

yeah, that is the one I used. Warm's Z got really funky really quickly. I just downloaded Mik's version of it....might give it a go at some point. Do you know what the difference between the two other than theming??? I guess Mik optimizes things a little more???

Mik did his typical apk optimizations (cleared out a lot of junk). I haven't tried it yet, but apparently it's very fast.
