Root Simple return to stock

I have two Samsung Verizon Galaxy S phones. One with a broken screen and the other is rooted with gummy something. I would like to return my rooted phone to stock since it has quite a few problems I assume are associated with a poorly rooted phone.
I simply want to get it working properly.
Thanks
Robert

welcome to the forums!!!!!!

i moved you to the galaxy s root forum where folks who have your phone can help you out better.

now there really is no such thing as a bad root. a bad flash of a rom yes, but once you are rooted there is no need to unroot.

what rom are you on? have you tried any others? what problems are you having?

I am very unfamiliar with some of the language in this formum so please be paitient, I am a fast learner so I will do my best.
Not sure of the ROM
I have Gummy 0.9
android version 4.04
build number gummy-facinatemtd
I have not tried any others but I will if it will help.
I am lately getting a white screen that lasts for up to 15 seconds and then flashes rainbow colors

yeah it could be just the rom you are on. not sure on the rainbow colors thing you are talking about. is it rebooting?

and before you do anything else i would take the time to read some of the links found here:http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s-all-things-root/489555-galaxy-s-all-things-root-guide.html. there is a lot of good info there that will help you to understand things better in the rooted world.

my suggestion is to make a nandroid backup in recovery and try some of the other roms out there. in the link i provided there should be a list of roms you can try as well.

Every time I press the power button to activate the screen or access an app, the screen goes all white, eventually it begins flashing bright colored thin band all along one side of the screen then returns to the proper home screen. This problem is lasting longer and longer. It appears I have limited time left.

I can try a different ROM. Can you give me a suggestion of a good one and a link to the proceedure I need to follow.
I have used odin once so I should be able to follow some good detailed instructions.

Thanks again for the help.

i unfortunately never had a samsung device and i never had used odin before so i can't help you with that. but the link i gave you have tons of info there. take a look around this forum i moved you into, there might be a thread that might help you out.

if anything you should have a custom recovery. do you know which one you have?
