I've recently updated my droid version to 2.3.5 on my HD and now it can screen cap by holding power button and tapping the home key, I first did it by accident whilst trying to turn the alarm

Yep this works on some custom roms too!

Google says it's causes a privacy issue.
And oddly enough my Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a dedicated button for screenshots!!

For root users there's an app called Screencast , which also records your screen as a video.


For non root users Airdroid can screenshot too.
