Help SIP calling tricks, e.g. dialing rules?

Hello all, I am trying to use SIP calling and while it works, I find the phone rather lacking in choices regarding how to choose which method is used to make a call. I can either get it to ask me every time I make a call (when I'm on wifi), make calls by internet by default, or always use the mobile network. There is no option to use the mobile network for all calls but to dial a specific number via SIP, e.g. I can't bring up the phone app and elect to dial a call via SIP. I also can't set up any rules, e.g. dial all calls with a certain prefix via SIP where available. A good feature let down by a lack of user choices.

I have tried playing with Tasker, but I can't find anything in there to permit redirection of a call to make it go via SIP.

Does anyone know of a tasker/locale plugin which can control SIP calling, or know of an app using the native SIP client that can implement dialling rules to permit SIP calls to be made depending on the number dialled, or at the very least permit me to use the mobile network by default but to dial a specific number via SIP?

If you're wondering why, I'm in the UK and we have a very different phone system here, in which the caller pays to make the call and the receiver pays nothing. This means some calls are not included in my mobile's free call allowance and are expensive via mobile so I'd like to set it up to use internet calling for those prefixes where available. And no Google Voice is not available here due to our caller-pays billing setup.

you can set android to use SIP for "internet calls only" in the settings. Then use prefixer application https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tftbelow.prefixer&hl=en to append @name_of_sip_provider.com to filtered numbers according to what they begin with or other such rules.

so for example you want all numbers starting with 0800 to go thru sip then just set the rule in prefixer to make the number 08001234567@sipgate.com. This call will now automatically dial thru SIP and will be free instead of 15p/min :P.
