Sirius xm app available now!

Did I bash howard? No. I simply offered an alternative and yes it is simaler its shock jock content. If you dont have anything productive to say save it. Ive had it with trolls like you on this site you are pretty tough behind a keyboard.

I'm tough? You're the one sending out personal insults from your keyboard.

Simmer down.

Yeah it's awesome sitting and listening to Howard babble about nothing interesting for three hours.

Been trying to "get" Stern since the early 1990's, never got anywhere. His supporting cast has always been way more fun.

If you didn't like it then, you'll hate it now. I've been listening forever and it's wearing me thing at this point. Every show is filled with American Idol, Jay Leno bashing, and other nonsense I don't care about. I keep listening because I need to know how it ends, ya know?

I agree with you though, the rest of the cast is the best part and why I'm still tuning in every day.

Second day using this. Totally love it. Sound quality its better than my mp3's. App is very slick, extremely easy to use. With a regular subscription, it's another 10 cents a day. No brainer!

Speaking of which, what's Artie up to? He alive? In rehab?

If my normal subscription was up, I'd probably just let it die and just get the internet subscription and use my phone. It looks great from the pictures on the website. Looks better than my stiletto.

The app really is effing awesome. Sounds great, great interface.

The ONLY issue is that cell reception is rarely as reliable as satellite radio. I have a few dead spots that I didn't before.

Well I'm assuming you know he stabbed himself in the belly 9 times with a 13 inch kitchen knife.

So he went to a nut house after that. I think he's still there. It's like a drug/psychiatric hospital type thing from my understanding. They don't say a whole lot about it because it's "Artie's story to tell". They mention they talk to him every now and then on the phone, Gary goes and visits once in a while. Say he still acts really depressed but he's seemed better the last time.

They just mentioned his sister did some article with Penthouse and said he only says 3 words a day and just mopes around, but I find that article hard to believe. Their family is really supportive and keep it their business, I don't see his sister talking to anyone about it, especially Penthouse.

But yea, he's still mental and under 24 hour watch.

I enjoy the app, I used to have Sirius installed in my car but was going through some money problems and ditched the $16 a month I was spending on it.

Now that I'm doing alright again, I'm trying to decided whether or not to re-up. How much would it be for just an online account?

I would only want to listen to Sirius through the internet or my Incredible.

From what I've seen online at Sirius is $13 a month, unless I'm mistaken. Which isn't too great.... I'm going to decide between this and my premium Slacker account.

My only gripe with this app so far is that the quality drops quite a bit, even if my Incredible says I'm on 3G with two to three bars of reception. I was listening in my house yesterday using wi-fi and I lost the signal a few times even though the phone was a few feet from the modem and had full reception.

Here's a side question. I'm new to smartphones so this may come off as noobish. On the phone there's a 3G indicator that sometimes changes to 1X. Next to it are bars displaying my reception. I know that 1X is the slower data network, and that Sirius will drop in quality if my phone drops to 1X. Is data also related to the reception bars, or are they only for voice reception? Because I checked my signal strength in the setting while listening to Sirius, and it cut out at -93db, which I though was decent reception. It was low quality and took a few minutes to convert to the higher quality stream, even though my phone was back in 3G. I'd like to know if the data and voice reception are connected or separate.

I want to determine if the problem is with my phone, app, or just spotty reception in my area. I'm in northern NJ (about 20 minutes out of NYC), so I expect I should be getting an almost constant 3G connection from a strong network like Verizon.

Your best sound quality will be with Wifi on a fast network. Saves battery power as well. I only use 3g when on the road.

How come I cant find the sirius app on my phone once installed to make a shortcut...... do i have to go to website each time to run it...

nevermind

I can't find it either so I can put the shortcut on my home screen. It doesn't show up in the applications list. Anybody figure this out?

It's in the App Drawer, you probably just don't see it. It's under the O's.

It's the Sirius icon for the app, but the name underneath is "Online". Weird, but whatever.

Boy do I feel like a dope. I ended up using Astro to find the file and make a shortcut that way but it still didn't work the way it should.

Thanks.

I really don't see the point of paying extra for the app when pandora and slacker are free and one can create custom stations and not be limited by a fixed station. As with some others, the only reason I'd get it is if Stern was on it. Heck, it was the only reason I got Sirius in the first place. Plus, my lifetime subscription is supposed to include free online service, so the idea of having to pay for it on the phone isn't appealing. I'll stick with Pandora, Slacker and internet radio for my sports talk.

I disagree on the Stern content though. The guests and musical acts are still top notch. Still some good stories coming out and good games going on. His dad's perspectives are interesting. The gay stuff with Sal and Richard gets old real quick, but some of their prank calls and bits are funny. Idol and Jay stuff has died down. It was a hot topic for awhile. The guy isn't in his 20's and 30's anymore. Life changes, priorities and interests change. The clip they pulled about the oil crisis in the 80's that mimicked the current one, by the same company no less was eye opening. Wouldn't have heard that otherwise from MSNBC.

Is anyone else having a problem with the SiriusXm app? Yesterday and today I try to run it and it just says checking for updates but never goes past the screen. I've tried uninstalling it downloading it again but still the same thing. Just curious if anyone else is having the same issue.
