Help skipping music

I have a desire running froyo, using an 8gb card. I'm finding that my music is

skipping with increasing frequency. It is not consistent, a track will skip at one point the first time then somewhere else the next time. Any ideas?

Are you doing anything on the phone when the music skips?

What class is your SD card? It sounds like either the SD card is slow or that the CPU and memory cannot keep up with the music. Also how big are the music files?

Don't know if this is any help but this happened to me when i put music on my phone using the HTC iTunes Sync. Each of my songs would skip and jump about all over the place.

So what i did was remove all the music and put it all in manually via going into the SD card and putting my songs in the 'Music' folder. Now my songs play with no skips or jumps.

I wasn't doing anything other than playing music at the time, usual things running in the background. I'm using a sandisk, 8gb class 2 card, typical file size approx 8mb. And I put all the music on manually

I'd say it is your SD card is to slow as danfrance suggested. Ideally you want a minimum of a class 4
