Help Skype does not work on the Atrix

Hi,

I just bought the Atrix and want to give some warning to everyone playing with the same thought:

Skype audio calls won't work on the Atrix.

I am not talking about the video, I am talking about simple audio calls. You can hear the person on the other end but they cannot hear you. The person's voice on the Atrix end is overloaded with background noise. It sounds like a transmission from Jupiter...

Just reading the comments from the Skype forum:

Check out what people are saying on the Motorola forum. Basically, it's a Motorola firmware issue, not a Skype problem. Apparently, the Motorola Atrix has this problem on all VoIP apps.

If it's a firmware issue, then we just have to sit and wait for Motorola to update with a fix...or a developer over at XDA find a work around this.
 
Thank you for sharing. As far as I read the posts I also understand that it is a firmware issue. However, I have no idea how long it takes them to fix this. I cannot return my phone anymore but if I had known that before I might have bought a different one.
I hope others find this piece of information BEFORE making their buying decision.
 
I use Tango for video chat and have no problem other than you have to be in a 3g/4g area or wifi. The problem with Skype on the Atrix is well documented. I hope they fix it but Tango works good.

Thanks for the heads up. My major concern is the possibility of calling landlines though. I have a subscription with Skype and it sucks that I cannot use it on my phone now.

Thank you, too ;) I downloaded it but it won't work for the voice issue :(
 
Thanks for mentioning. But since even the guy who invented it says it is a little dirty, I think I'll wait a little longer for Moto....
 
What is dirty is that Skype and Moto srew the users over. And knowing Moto's history we might be in for a loooong wait :)
