Your title says "Skype sucks" but then you end this by saying that HTC should step up!

I haven't had a problem with skype.

Skype works flawless for me. I even used it again just now 'cause i thought maybe something changed. If you're still using the Hero, you may need a faster phone for a smoother experience...

Havent tried Skype over wifi, but Facetime is great. Works so smooth and so effortlessly. When I put Skype on my Evo i noticed that my battery was draining faster than normal, even when i signed out of the program. Went to sleep on 100%, and woke up the phone was dead. No Bueno!!!

Interesting. I tend to use google chat (talk) since most of my friends are on google more than I use Skype.

Although I haven't tried a Huddle in Google+, I haven't heard any complaints about it.

Is is possible the lack of Skype development is to get people to use the native google products?

I'm rooted, so the skype version i use kills the process when you exit it. Not sure if that's how the typical updated skype version is, but 0 battery/memory is dedicated to skype when it's not in use with the version i'm on.
