Help Skype on Android 1.6, any workaround?

Installing Skype on an Android phone requires v2.1, I have v1.6 and I'm tryyng to avoid the hassle of upgrading an LG GT540 phone to 2.1.

Can anyone suggest a workaround? I've tried logging onto my Skype account on the web hoping I could then make a call (as if I were at a public computer without the Skype app installed) but that doesn't seem to be an option. Any suggestions?

Anyone correct me if i am wrong,
but i think you need at least 2.1
to use skype!!

Upgrading to 2.1 is no hassle. Simply go the LG website, and follow all the on-screen instructions. It is fairly simple and doesn't require you to be a techie.
