I read that the new DROiD Skype App has some issues on the Galaxy S.

Anyone try it yet? What exactly are the issues, what I read was vague and didn't go into any sort of details.

Seems like right now it will only run on Froyo, and the official froyo firmware are not out yet.

Well i don't know about runs perfectly.

While i like that skype in some form is FINALLY present on this phone (almost), having a lack of video chat somewhat cripples the appeal.

If my 6280 could do video chat across the phone network four years ago, there's no excuse for skype to be without it now.

as that nobody answered you regarding the issue
the message you get is that you cannot connect as soon as you press on the login button
so it's not even trying, an educated guess would say that the app fails to detect the wireless/data connection on these devices or something

True true, but I would rather not recommend beta firmware to new users.

I've actually found the beta firmware 2.2 JPK to be far less buggy than the 2.1 update1 Eclair that phone came with, and I'm new to Android phones.

I've found it extremely stable also, but its not a bad point to make.
