Root SkyRaider 3.0 RC1

i hate the new launcher. and I downloaded a laucher from ROM Manager that says they work for ANY froyo rom. but it didn't work, I still have the stupid espresso or whatever launcher. I just don't get the point of the far right button. Is long pressing just too hard for adding widgets? I would much rather have the browser button incorporated in the launcher than the add widgets button, saves a spot on my home screen that I can fill with a different program.

also, could someone explain what Vanilla and Espresso are? are they the themes? 2.5.2 was vanilla right? I really liked the 2.5.2. I still use it now even with the 3.0 being out.

When people talk about vanilla, they are usually talking about a ROM without Sense. Vanilla meaning plain. Espresso is just a theme.

He included another launcher with this ROM too if you don't like the Espresso option. If you've downloaded Home Switcher, you can easily switch back and forth between launcher options.

RC3 coming out tomorrow, both vanilla and sense. I've been using KK#1, which is awesome, and he's including it now in the Rom.

i have a question about downloading a "launcher" for 3.0 in rom manager. does it have to completely reinstall the entire rom with the new launcher to do this? i downloaded it and its asking me the standard questions about backing up and wiping the phone and i don't want to have to re do everything again...

You don't need it, but it makes it super easy to switch between different launcher types.

I'm using SR 3.0 that incorporates the newest leak and things seem to be running really well. The only big problem is that my wifi drops out occasionally and has to be restarted.

I can't get Home Switcher to work in RC3. But I disagree with Rolaids that it's crapola. It's actually very slick and works rather well. Battery life is very decent, and he's making some great changes. Use Titanium backup paid edition for restores. Takes only a few minutes and you can do a wipe data/cache without worrying.

i agree. cyanogenmod released 6.0.1 and it's awesome! no ugly sense, facebook syncs great! no bugs so far.

the home switcher app didnt work well with skyraiders 3.0. it would switch to the launcher I wanted, but everytime I hit the home button on the front of my dinc, it would revert back to the ugly one. i even set the launcher i wanted to default but it would still switch back to the ugly one. i gave up and went with cyanogenmod =]

I loved CM6 but I'm dumping it, not sure for what but the battery drain is absolutly insane on my phone with CM6 even with some good setcpu profiles. I have it set to drop my processor low when my screen is off and still 5hrs of sleep knocked almost 50% off the stock battery. With every other rom with either a hydra or king kernal installed with same setcpu profile I would never dip below 95%

I haven't noticed that. I have setCPU set to 1.15GHZ with the same screen off profile you mentioned. did you change the wallpaper? I dunno if live wallpapers will drain the battery during sleep or not. I actually found the sweet looking robot from skyraiders rom and made that my wallpaper for my CM6. =]

that's too bad cuz CM6 is a sweet ROM, but it's obviously not worth it if the phone won't stay charged. Skyraider is ok too if you're into the ugly user interface and the weird facebook bugs.

I don't use live wallpapers and the battery drain was horrible I just like getting 18-26hrs of life out of my stock battery and I believe with CM6 I was getting 12-16hrs.
I kinda like the user interface of skyraider not as much as CM6 but etter then stock that's forsure. I don't get any facebook bugs but maybe I don't notice cause I don't really use Faceook all too much
